The law offices of McLin Burnsed is adding to its legal team attorney Daniel J. Kersey, who will be working in litigation alongside the firm’s Managing Partner, Phillip Smith, in its Leesburg, Florida office.
Born in Kissimmee and raised in Brevard County, Florida, Daniel Kersey earned his AA degree and an AS in paralegal studies from what was then Brevard Community College, now Eastern Florida State College. Mr. Kersey earned his BS in Business Administration from the University of Florida in 2015, and went on to graduate cum laude with his Juris Doctor in 2018.
While earning his law degree, Mr. Kersey served as External Vice President for the Florida Moot Court Team, where he competed in two competitions: the southeast regional Philip C. Jessup International Moot Court Competition, where he received a “Top 20 Oralist” placement, and the E. Earle Zehmer National Moot Court Competition, where he and his teammate earned “Second Best Brief.” Also during law school, Mr. Kersey served as senior galleys editor for the Journal of Technology Law and Policy and clerked for the Honorable Wm. Terrell Hodges in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Florida’s Gainesville Division.
Prior to joining McLin Burnsed, Mr. Kersey worked as an Assistant State Attorney in Florida’s Third Circuit, where he prosecuted misdemeanor cases in the counties of Suwannee, Madison and Hamilton, Florida, where he gained extensive courtroom and legal experience in negotiations, procedure and courtroom etiquette.
Mr. Kersey’s areas of practice include General Civil Litigation and Class Action Litigation. “I’m honored to work with Phil Smith,” says Kersey. “I expect to gain from his vast experience, and I’m excited to expand and enhance the offerings of the firm, and achieve great things for our clients.”
